THE TEAM NEWS

WESTERN STORM

  • Western Storm made it a magnificent seven as they extended their winning run in this year’s Women’s Super League with a tight victory over second-placed Southern Vipers to open up a lead of 12 points at the top of the table.
  • The Storm posted 170/3 from their 20 overs which was their highest score to date in this season’s competition and they were able to claim a 15-run win thanks Freya Davies’ superb effort with the ball as she took 4-18.
  • Heather Knight was again pivotal for her side as she lead the way with the bat, notching a century partnership with Fran Wilson as both England stars made half-centuries with Knight’s 61 from 48 balls the top score for her side.

SURREY STARS

  • Surrey Stars suffered a third consecutive loss in the Women’s Super League as their grip on the trophy slipped further and they have plenty of improving to do if they are to get anywhere near retaining their crown.
  • The Stars failed to score quickly enough with their total of 121/6 falling short of what was required as Yorkshire Diamonds chased that down with just a single ball remaining to edge out Surrey.
  • Natalie Sciver again struggled with both bat and ball, failing to take a wicket with her tally standing at just four from five games whilst she only managed five with the bat meaning she has yet to surpass 24 runs so far this tournament.

THE PREDICTION

Western Storm will be hoping to keep their 100% start to the Women’s Super League going as they host reigning champions Surrey Stars. The visitors have not had the best of times recently and have lost their last three as their attempt to retain their title looks set to fall short on current form. The Storm have dealt with everything thrown their way so far and there is little to suggest that their winning run will come to an end any time soon.
