WESTERN STORM
- Western Storm come into the final of the Kia Super League after topping the group stage having won 9 of their 10 matches and they have comfortably been the best team in the tournament this season so far.
- The batting quartet of Priest, Knight, Mandhana and Wilson have combined for 1200 runs between them and an impressive 10 fifties so they will be key for them here against the Vipers.
- Pace bowler Freya Davies has been the revelation of the tournament this season with 18 wickets in 10 matches including 4/18 in their last match against the Vipers so she will be just as key as their batters.
SOUTHERN VIPERS
- Southern Vipers reached the final of the Kia Super League by beating Loughborough Lightning by five wickets with one over to spare in a match that they always looked comfortable in after the fast start in the run chase by Bates (37 from 25) and Wyatt (31 from 17).
- The Vipers' bowling unit put in a strong performance to restrict Lightning to 143 all out thanks in no small part to Suzie Bates' 3/22 and she was ably supported by Bell and Wellington who took two apiece, and they really will need a strong bowling display against the Storm’s batting line-up.
- This match is a repeat of the 2016 and 2017 finals with the first being won by the Southern Vipers and the second seeing Western Storm emerge victorious so this match will essentially crown the most successful team in the tournament’s short history.
THE PREDICTION
Western Storm have been comfortably the standout team in this year's Kia Super League and they will be confident of winning the title here. Southern Vipers beat Loughborough Lightning earlier in the day to reach the final, but the Western Storm have been significantly better than the rest of the teams in the tournament this year. That will stand for nothing unless they produce the goods on the day but the batting firepower of the Storm should make the difference along with the uber-talented Freya Davies who is the tournament’s leading wicket-taker.
