SOUTHERN VIPERS
- Southern Vipers fell to just their second defeat of this year’s Women’s Super League as they went down to Western Storm in their top of the table clash with the Storm proving just too good for them.
- The Vipers were chasing 171 to win after struggling to contain the Storm but Danielle Wyatt continued where she left off against Surrey Stars as she scored a quick-fire 56 off just 32 deliveries but a lack of genuine support harmed the Vipers.
- They ended up falling 15 runs short as the middle order and tail failed to really contribute as the Vipers were left to rue needing such a big total and they will be hoping for more from their bowlers moving forward, particularly Suzie Bates who failed to take a wicket for the fifth time in six matches.
YORKSHIRE DIAMONDS
- Yorkshire Diamonds secured a priceless victory to keep their hopes of making the semi-finals alive as they defeated reigning champions Surrey Stars in dramatic circumstances in their last match.
- The Diamonds won just their second game of the tournament as they claimed a five-wicket victory with just one ball remaining thanks to Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten knock of 42 from 33 balls.
- Rodrigues hit four off the penultimate ball to seal the victory and she will be key to her side’s chances of backing that victory up after finding some form following a score of 58 in Yorkshire’s previous game against Loughborough.

This is a crucial game for Yorkshire’s chances of progressing to the semi-finals as they look to build on their win over Surrey. The Diamonds sealed an intense victory last time out to keep their hopes alive of going beyond the group stage but must back that up here against a team they would deem as one of their rivals. Southern Vipers come into this game on the back of a tight affair with the unbeaten Western Storm but their batting could be too much for the Diamonds to handle.
