- Loughborough Lightning come into this home match desperate for a win which will see them move into the top three places and they come off a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Surrey Stars last time.
- Mignon du Preez was the standout performer in that match as she hit an unbeaten 70 to guide them to victory, and the South African will now be hoping to push on and contribute more big scores.
- While star West Indian all-rounder Hayley Matthews struggled again with the bat, she did bowl superbly well taking 2/12 from her four overs, and their tight bowling has been a key reasons for them winning two of their last three matches, and they will look to continue that against the Diamonds.
YORKSHIRE DIAMONDS
- Yorkshire Diamonds came crashing back down to earth after their Roses win earlier in the week as leaders Western Storm handed them a heavy defeat on Thursday as they chased down their target of 151/9 with nine wickets to spare and more than five overs remaining.
- Hollie Armitage hit just their second half century in the 2019 Kia Super League so that will give them something positive to take from that defeat and they will hope more of their batters can step up now as only two have broken the 100 mark across their four matches so far.
- Overseas stars Alyssa Healy and Jemimah Rodrigues continue to get starts but have failed to convert into any big scores so far, and they desperately need the duo to start scoring more if they are to make a run for the knockout places.
THE PREDICTION
This is arguably last chance saloon for Yorkshire Diamonds if they are to make a run for the top three places in the ladder but it is just as big a match for Loughborough Lightning. They can move into the top three with a win here and they have had the better first half of the group phase compared to the Diamonds. Some of their key players like Du Preez and Matthews are finding some form, and their tight bowling may just make the difference in what could be a close game.
