THE LOWDOWN
LONDON SPIRIT
After being on the right end of a close one against Trent Rockets which saw them win by two runs, London Spirit felt the agony of losing a match that went to the wire, Oval Invincibles edging them out by the same margin. This marks the second time this season that the Spirit have lost a game vs the Invincibles that they could so easily have won, which is no doubt a huge frustration from within their dressing room. This leaves them still on four points, but hope still springs eternal for them with victory here enough for them to move into the top three.
NORTHERN SUPERCHARGERS
Northern Superchargers know that two points here would see them move back into second-place ahead of Southern Brave on net-run-rate, but the pressure is on them having lost their last two games. Their most recent defeat was a comprehensive one, Manchester Originals overcoming them fairly comfortably at Headingley and the Superchargers must improve with the ball especially, having conceded scores of over 180 in each of those matches, giving their batters too much to do in response.
THE PREDICTION
London Spirit’s last fixture at Lord’s saw 195 play 193 with a small boundary on one side enabling a real run-fest. You’d expect another high-scoring contest here and that benefits them when taking into account how many runs that Northern Superchargers have leaked with the bat across their last couple of games. If they can continue batting as well as they have done in recent men’s Hundred encounters, then the Spirit should do enough to pick up two points here.
