THE LOWDOWN

ISLAMABAD UNITED

  • Islamabad United picked up a vital two points on Wednesday with only their second win of the season but a massive one at that, overcoming Karachi Kings on their own patch at the National Stadium.
  • Chasing 166 for victory, openers Colin Munro and Alex Hales set the tone with a 108-run partnership for the opening wicket, Munro going on to make 82 from 47 balls, ensuring that Islamabad stayed well ahead of the asking rate to get home comfortably.

QUETTA GLADIATORS

  • Quetta Gladiators took their frustrations at losing their 100% Pakistan Super League record in 2024 out on Karachi Kings this past Thursday, although they had to work extremely hard for it, beating the Kings off the last ball of the match.
  • West Indian overseas signing Sherfane Rutherford was the key to victory, his 58 not out getting Quetta over the line in their chase of 166, which they eventually completed with five wickets remaining.

THE PREDICTION

Quetta Gladiators remain firmly on course of a play-off place following an excellent PSL campaign so far. They have been far more consistent than Islamabad United, who’ve struggled previously to build any momentum, following up victory with defeat straight afterwards. It would be no surprise if the same outcome occurred this time around from their perspective, so back Quetta to record a fifth win in six league fixtures across 2024 so far.

TIP: QUETTA GLADIATORS TO WIN
