THE TEAM NEWS

PAKISTAN

  • Pakistan put their T20 World Cup woe behind them as they whitewashed Bangladesh in their three-match T20 series before backing that up with a 2-0 success in the Test arena against the same opposition.
  • It is another strong squad named by the Pakistanis and with the incredible pair of Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan at the top of the order, they will look to continue their superb run of form having won eight of their last nine matches in this format.

WEST INDIES

  • West Indies have struggled in the shortest format of the game for a while now and after a miserable T20 World Cup campaign in which they won just one of their five matches, they will be hoping for better in this series with Pakistan.
  • It will not be easy for the tourists and their task is made even more difficult with some of their key men missing out so the pressure will fall on some of the more experienced members of the squad including the uncapped bowler Dominic Drakes.

THE PREDICTION

Pakistan have the quality to mix it with the best in T20i cricket and will perhaps wonder how they failed to reach the T20 World Cup final after such a positive campaign. They showed no signs of dwelling on that as they swept Bangladesh aside last time out and they can build on that series whitewash with another strong showing against the West Indies. With just one win in their last eight T20i matches that have produced a result, the tourists have it all to do and their under-strength side is likely to fall short in this opening clash in Karachi.
