Coventry vs Sunderland prediction

Coventry City have been much-improved since the appointment of Frank Lampard as the Sky Blues recovered from back-to-back losses late in the season to finish in the top six with a 2-0 defeat of Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough at the Coventry Building Society Arena last weekend on the final day of the season thanks to a brace scored by midfielder Jack Rudoni.

They now face a Sunderland side that have a very impressive young squad but, coached by former Lorient boss Regis Le Bris, the Black Cats have collapsed at the back end of the season with little to play for but, even without that motivation, there will be major concerns with a 1-0 loss at home to manager-less Queens Park Rangers how they finished off last week.

That defeat to QPR was the Wearsiders’ fifth successive loss in the league and Coventry, buoyant with home advantage, will fancy their chances of earning themselves a first-leg lead.
