Corentin Moutet vs Pablo Llamas Ruiz prediction
Corentin Moutet suffered an early exit in Madrid last time out, as he was defeated by Daniel Merida Aguilar in his opening round match. The Frenchman struggled to get going, losing 6-3 6-4. It’s not been the best of seasons for Moutet up to this point, with largely inconsistent results. His best ATP outing was a quarter-final appearance at the Grand Prix Hassan II, but that was still a disappointment as he lost to Marco Trungelliti despite being the top seed and one of the favourites for the title.
He received a bye in round one and now faces Pablo Llamas Ruiz. The Spaniard defeated Ethan Quinn in three sets. He went an early break down in the deciding set but recovered to win 6-3 5-7 6-3 after two hours and 30 minutes. That was his third straight win, including the qualifying stages. Llamas Ruiz has a Challenger title this season, following success in Alicante.
Moutet is the favourite, but he’s not been performing close to his best in recent weeks, and his level tends to dip. Llamas Ruiz will hope to frustrate the 27-year-old at times.
