Corentin Moutet impressed in Rome, as he defeated Barcelona Open champion Holger Rune in a close three set match on his way to reaching the fourth-round. He took the first set against Jack Draper but eventually lost out. The Frenchman had struggled on the surface up to that point this season but will take confidence from his performance levels at the Italian Open as he begins his campaign at his home slam.
Clement Tabur beat Li Tu, Dan Evans and Filip Cristian Jianu in the qualifying stages to enter the main draw of a Grand Slam for the first time. He is ranked 280 in the world but has competed on clay for nearly the whole season. He picked up two titles in Reus and Vic within a few weeks of each other in April and also reached the final of an event in Angers. His current win-loss record on the surface in 2025 stands at 25-6.
Moutet will be expected to win against an opponent who is competing in his first Grand Slam match, but Tabur is comfortable on the clay and will ask a few questions.
