Corentin Moutet was one of the favourites for the title in Marrakesh, but he fell to a surprising loss to Marco Trungelliti in the quarter-finals. The Frenchman had taken the first set, but Trungelliti improved and ended up winning the match in three. It’s not been a great season for Moutet at this stage, and he currently has a negative win-loss record in 2026.
He faces fellow countryman Alexandre Muller in the first-round. He won both of his qualifying matches against Jan Choinski and Matteo Arnaldi. That will have been a boost for Muller physically, as he was forced to withdraw from the tournament in Marrakesh at the quarter-final stage.
They met for the first time on the ATP last year, with Moutet dropping just one game as he destroyed Muller in Washington. This has the makings of a far more competitive match, with Moutet not in the best run of form at this moment.
