The Prediction

Collingwood are looking to immediately bounce back after a disappointing start to their campaign. The Magpies suffered a surprising 52-point loss to an injury-depleted GWS Giants in the opening round.

The Magpies will welcome Dan Houston for his first appearance after serving a suspension last weekend, and his addition is seen as a significant boost to the team's defensive capabilities and overall structure. They have bolstered their squad with experienced players like Harry Perryman and Tim Membrey, aiming to consolidate their position as one of the oldest lists in the competition.

Port Adelaide, on the other hand, will be playing their first game of the 2025 season. The Power have been dealing with injury concerns during the pre-season, with star midfielder Zak Butters expected to be sidelined for at least another five weeks. Other key players like Todd Marshall, Esava Ratugolea, and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher are also unavailable, forcing defensive stalwart Aliir Aliir out of his natural intercept role.

For Port Adelaide, this match marks the beginning of Ken Hinkley's final season as coach. The Power will need to end a run of four consecutive defeats against the Magpies over the past three seasons if they hope to start the year on a positive note.

Despite Collingwood's opening defeat, they enter this match as favourites. The Magpies' star power, including Brownlow Medal favourite Nick Daicos, and their historically stingy defence could prove decisive. However, Port Adelaide's young and dynamic side should not be underestimated.

Expect a stronger Collingwood performance here, with the Magpies tipped to prevail.
