Christopher O’Connell vs Mariano Navone prediction
Christopher O’Connell managed to advance through qualifying of both Sunshine Double events, but the Australian was defeated in the first-round on both occasions. His best ATP result of the season was in Rotterdam, as he defeated Cameron Norrie in straight sets to make the quarter-finals. O’Connell is ranked 130 in the world and has nine wins and nine defeats in 2026.
He faces Mariano Navone in the first-round. The Argentine reached the final of this event in 2024, losing to Marton Fucsovics. Navone has picked up a title this season, having won the Cap Cana Challenger a fortnight ago. His results elsewhere have not been particularly inspiring, and he did not enjoy a productive clay court swing in South America, winning just one of four matches.
Despite having a negative win-loss record on clay so far this season, Navone’s game is still more suited to O’Connell on this surface, and he has enough quality to get the win in round one.
