Christopher O’Connell vs Cameron Norrie prediction

Christopher O’Connell began his clay season promisingly with a quarter-final appearance at the Bucharest Open before a loss to eventual finalist Marton Fucsovics in straight sets. The Australian had a more disappointing week in Munich at the BMW Open. He only made it through to the main draw as a lucky loser and then fell to an early defeat to Luciano Darderi. More recently, he produced a strong performance to defeat Camilo Ugo Carabelli 6-3 6-4 in the first-round of Madrid but lost at the next stage to third seed Taylor Fritz. 

Lucky loser Cameron Norrie did enjoy a positive showing at the Madrid Open, reaching the third-round, which included coming from a set down to defeat 26th seed Jiri Lehecka, but he would have been disappointed by his defeat against Gabriel Diallo. Norrie started strongly but would lose out 2-6 6-4 6-4 to the Canadian.

That was the Brit’s best performance on the surface so far, but O’Connell will be a difficult opponent. Both of these guys are relentless from the baseline and it’s very probable that they cancel each other out. We can see this one going the distance.
