Alejandro Tabilo’s much-needed resurgence is gathering pace as the Chilean reached his first ATP quarter-final of 2025.

The qualifier made it eight wins from his last nine matches courtesy of an eye-catching 6-4 6-3 triumph over second seed Luciano Darderi.

The South American will now battle Chris O’Donnell for a spot in the last four after the Aussie ended the run of Chinese underdog Yi Zhou by a 6-2 6-4 scoreline.

Tabilo will be confident of maintaining his recent upturn in fortunes as he holds a 1-0 lead over O’Connell in the head-to-head and has also won their other two encounters at a lower level.

There’s no doubt Tabilo is a top talent when his Mojo is flowing and that hasn’t been the case for much of a shocking season for the former world number 19.

It looks like he’s firing here though and that should spell the end of the Aussie world number 103’s run.
