Cerro Porteno vs Palmeiras prediction

Cerro Porteno come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Olimpia in their most recent outing at General Pablo Rojas the other day with Juan Manuel Iturbe opened the scoring after 28 minutes before a second-half turnaround. That ended a five-match unbeaten run of form across all competitions since losing to Palmeiras in mid-April.

Still coached by Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras are one of the strongest, if not the strongest, sides in South America and they maintained top spot in the Brazilian Serie A at the weekend as they defeated Vasco da Gama by a goal to nil at Arena BRB Mane Garrincha the other day thanks a 60th minute strike from Barcelona loanee Vitor Roque.

Cerro Porteno have started steadily with four points from three games in this competition but Palmeiras will be expected to come out on top relatively comfortably in Paraguay this midweek.
