Celta Vigo preview: Entertaining Galicians
Celta Vigo finished seventh in La Liga season, qualifying for the league phase of this season's UEFA Europa League. With former B team coach Claudio Giraldez at the helm, Celta play a thrilling and entertaining, front foot style that has seen them play become one of the best teams to watch in La Liga.
Despite the influx of some interesting signings this summer, Celta have started relatively slowly without a victory in their opening four matches. They have, though, laid for themselves a platform, courtesy of three draws in those four games, and each performance having grown since a loss to Getafe on the opening day.
Girona preview: Crisis club Girona
A few years ago, Girona gained promotion to the top-flight and then became one of the best sides to watch in La Liga, finishing in the top-half and building on that with the unlikeliest of qualifications for the UEFA Champions League a season later. They sold off many star talents last summer, though, and have since been forced to drift.
A poor season last year has given way to a full blown crisis and it is surprising that Michel remains in charge of the Catalans. A 2-0 loss at home to fellow strugglers Sevilla a couple of weeks ago means they have begun the 2025/26 La Liga campaign three defeats from three matches and seemingly destined for the second-tier already.

Girona team news: A few doubts

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Paulo Gazzaniga; Arnau Martinez, Reis, David Lopez, Alex Moreno; Ivan Martin, Witsel; Yaser Asprilla, Lemar, Jhon Roca; Cristhian Stuani

Celta Vigo vs Girona prediction
Michel is already trying his best to get a reaction from his players with almost over the top criticisms and remarks in the press, and it feels very early to be doing something like that. Girona head to Galicia with little hope and, albeit football can be a funny game, Celta appear due a victory with their increasingly improved performances, and they should come out on top in northwest Spain this weekend.
