The Brit has shown signs of the sort of form that previously propelled him into the world’s top ten in recent months with a run to the third round at the US Open following a quarter-final charge at Wimbledon.

The British number two’s hopes of pushing back into the top 30 will kick off here against a wildcard ranked at 304 in the world.

The 20-year-old Yi Zhou will be playing just his second tour-level match of the year in front of a home crowd and, although he has posted some deep runs at hardcourt events in Challengers of late, this will be a step up in class that he’s unlikely to be able to match for the duration of the contest.
