Cagliari preview: Struggling Sardinians

Cagliari come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat to defending champions Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona the international break with a second-half stoppage-time winner scored by Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

The Sardinians, now under the management of Fabio Pisacane following the departure of Davide Nicola, started the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina at the Sardegna Arena, courtesy of a late equaliser scored by Sebastiano Luperto.

Parma preview: Developing Parma

Over the summer, having avoided the drop in their first season back in Serie A, Parma lost manager Cristian Chivu to Internazionale and he was replaced by Mikel Arteta’s former assistant coach at Arsenal, Carlos Cuesta, who is in his first managerial role.

The Emilio-Romagna-based outfit started their campaign with a 2-0 loss to Juventus in Turin on the opening day of the season, before they then earned themselves a 1-1 draw against a worryingly stagnating Atalanta side at the Ennio Tardini.

Cagliari team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for Cagliari to deal with this weekend, but experienced striker Leonardo Pavoletti remains a doubt due to a knee issue.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Caprile; Zappa, Yerry Mina, Luperto; Palestra, Adopo, Prati, Deiola, Obert; Esposito, Folorunsho

Unavailable:

Questionable: Pavoletti (Injured)

Parma team news: A few issues

Summer signing up-front, Matija Frigan, is an injury absentee for Parma this weekend, whilst experienced Brazilian midfielder Hernani is also a doubt due to an ankle injury.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Suzuki; Del Prato, Circati, Valenti; Lovik, Adrian Bernabe, Keita, Valeri; Almqvist, Ordonez; Mateo Pellegrino

Unavailable: Frigan (Injured), Ondrejka (Injured)

Questionable: Hernani (Injured)

Cagliari vs Parma prediction

We have two average and likely relegation-battling sides facing off against each other on the island of Sardinia this weekend. Cagliari’s two matches have consisted of just three goals, whilst Parma have had four goals come in their two games, but the two teams have scored a combined total of twice. These are two poor sides, and a low-scoring encounter is to be expected as two new managers try to get to grips.

Cagliari vs Parma tip: Under 2.5 goals
