The prediction

At the third time of asking, reigning Premiers Brisbane Lions secured the first win of the 2026 AFL season last week, defeating St Kilda by 33 points at Marvel Stadium.

In a feisty encounter between two teams who have been at each other's throats of late, the Lions kicked the last six goals of the contest to finally put some points on the board in their defence of the AFL title they have held on to for two years.

Collingwood, meanwhile, sit on two wins from their three matches so far, most recently defeating injury-hit GWS Giants last weekend, also at Marvel Stadium.

Now that they have the wind behind their sails though, you have to fancy the Lions to go on a run now, and they simply have more class in their roster than Collingwood.
