Stade Brest have been the perennial overachievers in Ligue 1 for quite a while but they are dealing with a significant regression this time around as they now take on Metz.

Brest preview: Hovering above

Still under the management of former Sunderland player Eric Roy, Stade Brest are hovering just above the bottom three and the danger zone in Ligue 1, with the hosts heading into this one on the back of a poor run of form.

Brest most recently suffered a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Olympique de Marseille at Stade Velodrome a couple of weeks ago, which has extended the hosts’ winless run of form to six matches, failing to score in five of those.

Metz preview: Impressive form

Following their promotion to the top-flight last season, Metz badly struggled at the start of this season without a win in their opening nine games of the campaign, but the hosts now come into this one on the back of three successive much-needed victories.

Metz most recently managed to overcome a strong Nice side by two goals to one at Stade Saint Symphorien, coming from behind in the second-half, courtesy of goals from Gauthier Lloris and Habib Diallo.

Brest team news: A few issues

Key attacking midfielder Kamory Doumbia is a doubt for this one and Brest also have a couple of confirmed absentees with injuries to goalkeeper Radoslaw Majecki and left-back Bradley Locko.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Coudert; Lala, Chardonnet, Coulibaly, Zogbe; Chotard, Magnetti; Balde, Del Castillo, Mboup; Ajorque

Unavailable: Majecki (Injured), Locko (Injured)

Questionable: Doumbia (Injured)

Metz team news: Some injury issues

Metz have a few injury issues for this one as former Fulham defender Fode Ballo-Toure remains sidelined, whilst key man Habib Diallo is now a confirmed injury absentee.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Fischer; Koauo, Gbamin, Yegbe, Colin; Toure, Deminguet; Sabaly, Hein, Tsitaishvili; Asoro

Unavailable: Sy (Injured), Mboula (Injured), Mangondo (Injured), Mbaye (Injured), Diallo (Injured)

Questionable: Ballo-Toure (Injured)

Brest vs Metz prediction

Stade Brest were one of the more entertaining and chaotic teams in Ligue 1 last season. The home team have lacked goals throughout this season and there is a lack of quality in their side in the final third without Kamory Doumbia. Metz head to Stade Francis-le Ble with some real form having been found and they will fancy themselves to take the game to Brest and so siding with the away team would appear the way to go for this one.

Brest vs Metz tip: Double chance – Metz to win or draw
