Brentford vs Plymouth Prediction

Thomas Frank has been criticised for not taking cup competitions seriously in charge of Brentford but the Bees, ensconced in mid-table, should launch a cup run here as they welcome Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle to west London.

Brentford reached the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup but heavily rotated last month ahead of a 3-1 defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park. They come into this one in some fairly poor form with the Bees’ 5-0 hammering of rock-bottom Southampton last weekend much-needed as it ended a five-match winless run of form across all competitions.

Plymouth Argyle are rock-bottom in the Championship after a very underwhelming campaign that has been reliant on home form, as has been the case for the Pilgrims for a while. Wayne Rooney left the club on New Year’s Eve and they have since shared a draw with Bristol City at Home Park before a draw with Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium.

Plymouth’s reliance on their home form wasn’t just a Rooney issue and this is expected to be a damage limitation job with Brentford expected to win this one quite comfortably.

Brentford vs Plymouth Tip: Brentford to win & over 2.5 goals
