A 2-1 loss away to Bologna in the Champions League proved the final straw for Sahin, who was in only his first season as head coach.
Werder Bremen will need to contend with an expected backlash from the hosts and come into this match in poor form themselves. Ole Werner’s side have picked up just one point from the last nine available to them and are averaging three goals conceded per game over their last three Bundesliga fixtures.
Mike Tullberg has been named interim head coach of the hosts and he’ll be expected to gain a reaction out of this Dortmund squad.
