Bologna have endured a very difficult second-half of the season as they now welcome a Cagliari side that may well have now clinched survival in Italy's top-flight.

Bologna preview: Mid-table Bologna

Bologna come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat at home to Roma at the Renato Dall'Ara in Emilio-Romagna last weekend due to goals scored by Donyell Malen and Neil El Aynaoui, sliding into the middle-of-the-table.

The home team had previously been pushing for UEFA Champions League qualification but they have endured a very inconsistent 2026 as they now try to remain in the top-half of the table in Serie A.

Cagliari preview: Struggling but probably safe

Cagliari have played a better style of football this season but they have remained in a relegation battle throughout much of the campaign - but their survival now appears secured as they head into the final four games of the campaign.

That is because they head into this one on the back of a topsy turvy 3-2 victory over Atalanta last weekend with Paul Mendy, making his first start, scoring a brace before a second-half winner scored by Gennaro Borrelli.

Bologna team news: Several doubts

Bologna are dealing with several doubts for this one as Federico Bernadeschi and Thijs Dallinga are both potentially unavailable, while Joao Mario is a confirmed absentee.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Ravaglia; Helland, Jhon Lucumi, Heggem; Zortea, Freuler, Ferguson, Juan Miranda; Orsolini, Castro, Rowe

Unavailable: Joao Mario (Injured)

Questionable: Skorupski (Injured), Casale (Injured), Bernadeschi (Injured), Dallinga (Injured)

Cagliari team news: Scorers now a doubt

The match-winner from last week Gennaro Borrelli is now a doubt due to a thigh injury, which is the same issue that brace-scoring Paul Mendy is also dealing with.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Caprile; Ze Pedro, Yerry Mina, Zappa, Obert; Adopo, Gaetano; Esposito, Deiola, Folorunsho; Belotti

Unavailable: Felici (Injured), Idrissi (Injured)

Questionable: Rodriguez (Injured), Mazzitelli (Injured), Mendy (Injured), Borrelli (Injured), Pavoletti (Injured)

Bologna vs Cagliari prediction

The Sardinians head to Bologna on the back of a much-needed victory that now means they begin this weekend's round of fixtures sitting eight points clear of the bottom three and the relegation places. Bologna are fading and siding with the visitors may well be a decent value bet for this one as they seek to rubber stamp their top-flight status for next season.

Bologna vs Cagliari tip: Double chance - Cagliari to win or draw
