Berfu Cengiz posted her first win of the year as her comeback from a seventh-month absent finally saw her get some reward.
The Turk eased to a 6-1 6-2 success over Jazmin Ortenzi to end a 10-match losing streak.
The world number 565 will now face a much tougher test of her level when she locks horns with Renata Zarazua.
The fifth seed cruised to a 6-2 6-1 triumph over wildcard Luiza Fullana and will now hope to post back-to-back wins for the first time since April.
Cengiz has not been used to recovering and playing again of late so it will be interesting to see how she performs here.
Zarazua will be eager to test any fatigue and the Mexican should come through if she plays consistent and is happy to tire out her opponent.
