Ben Shelton vs Mackenzie McDonald prediction

Mackenzie McDonald earned a shot at fourth seed Ben Shelton after winning another all-American clash with Colton Smith.

The wildcard defeated the qualifier 6-4 6-1 and will now meet Shelton for the second time.

McDonald trails 1-0 in the head-to-head having lost 7-5 6-4 on the clay in Barcelona two years ago.

Shelton is an even tough proposition on hard courts and with that heavyweight serve and fearsome forehand he will be a firm favourite.

The 22-year-old will also relish the fact it’s an all-American affair, which should bring out the best in a man known as ‘Showtime Ben’ as he looks to go further than his semi-final run last year.
