Her opponent in the first-round is Dayeon Back who is ranked 307 in the world. The 23-year-old was handed a wildcard for this event and will make her first WTA appearance of the season. She has picked up two titles on the ITF circuit this season, but this will be an incredibly tough task for the South Korean.
Haddad Maia is a commanding favourite to win and should be getting through this encounter in dominant fashion.
