Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Clara Tauson prediction

Beatriz Haddad Maia has struggled this season after a third-round appearance at the Australian Open in January. A long winless streak was ended in the first-round of Madrid but she was unable to build on that as she lost to Belinda Bencic at the very next stage. In her most recent tournament in Rome, the Brazilian was heavily defeated by Marie Bouzkova in the first-round.

Clara Tauson began her clay court campaign with back-to-back defeats in Stuttgart and Madrid though did fare slightly better in Rome as she came from a set down to beat 10th seed Emma Navarro but then fell to a defeat to Mirra Andreeva in the fourth-round. 

They have not played on clay before but the head-to-head is delicately poised at 1-1 with both matches having taken place in 2022. Tauson won the first match in Indian Wells but Haddad Maia gained revenge with a win of her own in Portoroz. 

There’s just one place separating these two in the rankings but Tauson seems to be coming into some form after consecutive wins in Rome and we back her to get through in this one.
