Bayern Munich preview: Brilliant Bayern
The first-leg of this UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie saw Bayern Munich defeat Real Madrid by two goals to one, with that scoreline flattering Los Blancos in a game in which Vincent Kompany’s Germans threatened to run rampant at the Bernabeu.
Bayern have backed that up by edging closer to the defence of their Bundesliga title with a heavily rotated side hammering St Pauli by five goals to nil at the Millerntor-Stadion in Hamburg.
Real Madrid preview: Stumbling Los Blancos
Alvaro Arbeloa had a tough start to life as Real Madrid boss but had seemingly begun to find some form before the international break, with injuries to big name stars and trust shown in youngsters, but things have turned this month.
After a defeat in the Balearic Islands against a struggling Real Mallorca side about ten days ago, Madrid looked listless against Bayern last week before stumbling their way to a 1-1 draw with Girona at the weekend.
Bayern Munich team news: Back to full strength
Bayern Munich can return to full strength this midweek with Harry Kane, seemingly still carrying yet another ankle injury at this time of year, leading the line once again.
Bayern do have a couple of newer injury issues, though, as Lennart Karl is now dealing with a hamstring issue, while Serge Gnabry missed out on the squad at the weekend.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Davies; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Musiala, Diaz; Kane
Unavailable: Ulreich (Injured), Karl (Injured)
Questionable: Gnabry (Injured)
Real Madrid team news: Tchouameni suspended
Real Madrid will be without France international defensive midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, as he is now missing through suspension and there is a debate about what now appears to be an unbalanced midfield.
Jude Bellingham was good off the bench last week and is expected to start but whether Thiago Pitarch starts ahead of or alongside Eduardo Camavinga and Fede Valverde is up for debate.
Predicted XI (4-1-2-1-2): Lunin; Alexander-Arnold, Militao, Rudiger, Mendy; Pitarch; Valverde, Camavinga; Bellingham; Mbappe, Vinicius
Unavailable: Courtois (Injured), Tchouameni (Suspended), Rodrygo (Injured)

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid prediction
Real Madrid appear to be a bit of a mess. At their best, a couple of years ago when they won the double, they were controlled and had stars that were positioned to decide matters. Now the stars run the show again and things lack cohesion at both ends of the pitch. They still have enough quality to always be a threat and be generally competitive in terms of the scoreline, but Bayern should simply blow them away on Wednesday night.
Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Tip: Bayern Munich to win & over 2.5 goals
