After their record-breaking winning run came to an end last time out, Bayern Munich are back in action with a home clash against Freiburg.

Bayern Munich preview: Union the stopper

After a memorable run of wins across all competitions to begin the season for Bayern Munich, Vincent Kompany’s side were finally denied in their most recent Bundesliga fixture. Falling behind twice away to Union Berlin, it took a goal deep into second half injury time by Harry Kane to salvage Bayern a draw and at least remain unbeaten this campaign.

Kane has consistently been the main source of goals for Bayern, but Luis Diaz is the man in form. The Colombian backed up his brace in Paris with another goal in the German capital and returns from international duty having also found the net for Colombia.

Freiburg preview: Back to winning ways

After a run of five Bundesliga matches without a win, Freiburg finally rectified that just prior to the international break, getting the better of St. Pauli by two goals to one. The victory lifted them to tenth-place ahead of this formidable trip.

Whilst Freiburg have been picking up wins both in Europe and the DFB-Pokal, Julian Schuster’s men remain very much the draw specialists of the Bundesliga with four draws from ten games. No other side in this season’s German top flight has more.

Bayern Munich team news: Jackson on standby

Serge Gnabry is battling a muscle injury, meaning we could well see Nicolas Jackson starting for the Rekordmeister. Other than that, don’t expect any big surprises. Alphonso Davies is returned to the grass and is getting closer to a return.

Predicted XI: (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Boey, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Kane, Diaz; Jackson

Unavailable: Davies (Injured), Musiala (Injured)

Questionable: Gnabry (Injured)

Freiburg team news: Grifo the question mark

Will Schuster opt to play Grifo from the start or bring him off the bench is a question most Freiburg fans would no doubt like the answer to. Kyereh is still missing and Irie is also out for this game.

Predicted XI: (4-2-3-1): Atubolu; Treu, Ginter, Lienhart, Makengo; Eggestein, Manzambi; Beste, Suzuki, Grifo; Adamu

Unavailable: Irie (Fitness), Kyereh (Injured)

Questionable:

Bayern Munich vs Freiburg prediction

Despite Bayern Munich having plenty of their squad away on international duty, they’ll be returning back in a good frame of mind and no doubt determined to add to what has been a fantastic campaign so far. They play excellent football and create bucketloads of chances. If they tighten up at the back, it’s hard to see anyone who plays them getting something.

Like the vast majority of clubs, Freiburg are unlikely to contain Bayern and will need to prioritise creating opportunities of their own, knowing how hard it is to shut out Kompany’s men for long. But Bayern have by far the better squad and at home, should comfortably emerge triumphant by at least two clear goals.
