When these two sides both qualified for the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, they were both chasing the treble but now that is only the case for Barcelona as Inter wobble.

Barcelona Preview: Drama in the hunt for silverware

Barcelona’s push for the treble remains very much on after they won their first piece of silverware at the weekend by coming from behind and defeating Real Madrid in extra-time of a scintillating and chaotic El Clasico Copa del Rey final at La Cartuja in Sevilla.

The Blaugrana’s performances have dipped in the last few weeks or so, perhaps beginning with a 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final but Hansi Flick’s remain on target for a third ever treble.

Inter Milan Preview: From a treble to potentially trophyless

Internazionale, on the other hand, had their hopes of a third ever treble scuppered last week as they were humbled by three goals to nil by struggling arch-rivals AC Milan in the second-leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie at San Siro.

The Nerazzurri are also now struggling in the Serie A title race alongside Napoli with the game before that loss to Milan a last-gasp loss to Bologna at the Renato Dall’Ara and they come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home to Claudio Ranieri’s Roma at the weekend.

Barcelona Team News: Still no Lewa

Barcelona are heading into their UEFA Champions League semi-final with no fresh injury concerns but they are without key man Robert Lewandowski up-front so Ferran Torres is expected to once again deputise for the Catalans. They also have issues at left-back as Alex Balde is missing through injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Kounde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Martin; Pedri, De Jong; Yamal, Olmo, Raphinha; Torres

Unavailable: Ter Stegen (Injured), Alex Balde (Injured), Marc Bernal (Injured), Marc Casado (Injured), Lewandowski (Injured)

Questionable:

Inter Milan Team News: Still no Thuram

Inter appear knackered and fatigue is a major issue that Simone Inzaghi has been talking about actually for the vast majority of this campaign. They remain without key striker Marcus Thuram ahead of their trip to Spain, whilst Denzel Dumfries is still trying to get himself fully fit alongside Piotr Zielinski.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Martinez, Taremi

Unavailable: Carboni (Injured), Thuram (Injured)

Questionable: Dumfries (Injured), Zielinski (Injured)

Barcelona vs Inter Milan Prediction

Barcelona’s performances haven’t been as electric as they had been previously in the season and there is a reasonable expectation that the Catalans may well feel some emotional and physical fatigue after their Copa del Rey triumph after 120 minutes at the weekend. However, they will also hope that momentum can carry them through a first-leg against an Inter side in danger of completely collapsing at this stage and a Barca win has to be the most likely outcome at Estadi Olympic Lluis Companys.

Barcelona vs Inter Milan Tip: Barcelona to win
