Auxerre preview: Poor recent results
On the opening day of the season, Auxerre started with a 1-0 victory over Lorient, courtesy of a 53rd minute winner scored by Lassine Sinayoko. They will be expected to regress a bit this time around, though, with a fairly average squad.
The home team do, though, come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats before the September international break. They were beaten 2-1 by Nice down at the Allianz Riviera, before a 1-0 loss to Nantes at Stade de la Beaujoire.
Monaco preview: Foot down on the Monegasque
Under the management of former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Adi Hutter, Monaco have been entertaining to watch and qualified for the UEFA Champions League, and their three matches so far this season have also consisted of ten goals.
The Monegasque most recently entertainingly defeated Strasbourg by three goals to two at Stade Louis II in the principality of Monaco, courtesy of goals from Maghnes Akliouche, Folarin Balogun and Takumi Minamino.
Auxerre team news: Leon suspended
Auxerre goalkeeper Donovan Leon is missing through suspension for this weekend, with midfielder Nathan Buayi-Kiala sidelined, whilst Ousmane Diomande is also a doubt.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): De Percin; Senaya, Francisco Sierralta, Akpa, Mensah; Casimir, Owusu, Danois, Osman; Loader, Sinayoko
Unavailable: Leon (Suspended), Buayi-Kiala (Injured)
Questionable: Diomande (Injured)
Monaco team news: A few issues
Monaco have a few issues for this one as Paul Pogba remains sidelined for the Monegasque, whilst Lukas Hradecky and Ansu Fati are major fellow summer signings and potential doubts.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kohn; Teze, Dier, Mawissa, Caio Henrique; Camara, Zakaria; Akliouche, Biereth, Golovin; Balogun
Unavailable: Pogba (Fitness), Stanis Idumbo (Injured)
Questionable: Hradecky (Injured), Ansu Fati (Injured)
Auxerre vs Monaco prediction
Auxerre are expected to regress a bit, despite remaining under the management of Christophe Pelissier. The hosts have a reasonable squad, but they certainly overperformed with their mid-table finish last season. Monaco have a lot of depth and should be able to take the game to Auxerre, regardless of potential international break fatigue or disruption, and they are the firm favourites for this one.
Auxerre vs Monaco tip: Monaco to win
