Austria vs Italy prediction

Not only are Austria a perfect six from six over the course of this FIFA U-17 World Cup so far, they are also yet to concede a goal over the course of the knockout stage, beating Tunisia, England and Japan, each without requiring extra time. Italy meanwhile, have overcome Czechia, Uzbekistan and Burkina Faso to reach the last four, with a late goal from Thomas Campaniello enough to see them defeat the latter in the quarter-finals by a single goal.

The defensive resilience and solidarity of these two nations has been key to their success, whilst the pair have also demonstrated excellent fitness levels. All bar one of Austria’s seven knockout stage goals and Italy’s six goals have come in the second half of games. This suggests a cagey first half will be in prospect, before the respective backlines get really tested. But expect the two defences to stand up to the challenge and ensure a very tight 90 minutes. With that in mind, back under 1.5 goals to be scored.

Austria vs Italy tip: Under 1.5 goals
