Aryna Sabalenka vs Marta Kostyuk prediction

Aryna Sabalenka made it through to the quarter-finals with a relatively comfortable 6-2 6-4 win over Peyton Stearns. The world number one did give up 13 break points, but her opponent only took one of them. Sabalenka now advances to her fourth Madrid Open quarter-final and will take on Marta Kostyuk for a place in the last four.

Kostyuk also enjoyed a straightforward round-of-16 encounter as she beat Anastasia Potapova 6-3 6-2. The Ukrainian gave away just two break points as she produced a strong serving performance to win. She did suffer a fall early in the second set but seemed to be moving well by the end of the match.

Sabalenka leads the head-to-head 2-0 and 1-0 on clay. They faced off in the first-round of the French Open two years ago with the Belarussian easily winning 6-3 6-2. Kostyuk will be a tougher opponent for Sabalenka this time around but the world number one has been mostly untroubled so far and we don’t think that will change here.
