Aryna Sabalenka vs Jessica Pegula prediction

Jessica Pegula will get a shot at US Open revenge when she meets Aryna Sabalenka in a rematch of the 2024 final.

The American lost 7-5 7-5 to the world number one in her maiden major final but has an opportunity to upset the odds and reach the title match 12 months on.

The fourth seed has yet to drop a set at Flushing Meadows this year and produced arguably her best result so far in seeing off two-time major winner Barbora Krejcikova 6-3 6-3.

Sabalenka, who has also won all of her ties in straight sets, comes into the match fresh after being handed a walkover when Marketa Vondrousova withdrew injured.

This will be their 10th meeting with Sabalenka bossing the head-to-head 7-2. The Belarusian has won the last three without dropping a set, including last year’s final.

The top seed also won 7-5 6-2 in their most recent clash in the Miami final back in March.

There’s very little to suggest the narrative will change in this latest meeting with Sabalenka having the greater quality in most departments with a game-plan that continually trumps the American on a hardcourt.

Pegula has the ability to make it a battle but if the world number one keeps her cool, she should move to within a win of retaining her title.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Jessica Pegula tip: Aryna Sabalenka to win 2-0
