Aryna Sabalenka vs Coco Gauff prediction
Aryna Sabalenka reached her fourth Madrid Open final as she ended Elina Svitolina’s 11-game unbeaten run with a 6-3 7-5 win. Considering Svitolina’s blistering form heading into the match, it was a really impressive result from the world number one to wrap it up in straight sets.
She takes on Coco Gauff in the final after the American blitzed past defending champion and world number two Iga Swiatek 6-1 6-1. It was a truly astonishing performance from Gauff, who lost only two points on her first serve and reeled off an incredible 11 straight games after Swiatek had won the opening service game of the match.
The fourth seed did not even face a break point and struck 18 winners in total as she wrapped up the victory in just an hour and four minutes. She leads the head-to-head against Sabalenka 5-4 and 1-0 on clay, with their last match on the surface being the third-round of the Rome Open four years ago.
Gauff has a very strong final record and if she produces a similar level to what she displayed in her semi-final, we favour her to take the title in a three-set match.
