Arthur Rinderknech vs Matteo Gigante prediction
Arthur Rinderknech’s last event was a Challenger in Aix-en-Provence last week, but the sixth seed could only make the round-of-16 stage before he was dumped out by Borna Coric in straight sets. His previous clay court events were similarly unimpressive, as he lost in the second-round of the Madrid Open to eventual winner Casper Ruud, lost in the first-round in Barcelona and couldn’t make it out of qualifying for the Monte-Carlo Masters.
He takes on wild card Matteo Gigante who is playing in his home event this week. He has been competing in numerous Challenger events over the past month or so, going all the way in Rome to win the tournament as the seventh seed less than two weeks ago. He competed in Mauthausen just last week, defeating former Grand Slam champion Marin Cilic in the first-round before falling to a three set defeat to Marco Trungelliti in the next stage.
Gigante is clearly capable on clay, having just won a Challenger, and we favour him staging an upset and defeating the higher-ranked but out-of-form Rinderknech in three sets.
Arthur Rinderknech vs Matteo Gigante tip: Matteo Gigante to win 2-1
