Arthur Fils kept up his 100% record against Stefanos Tsitsipas as he came from a set down to defeat the Greek for a fourth time in a bad-tempered match in the third round. Fils recovered from a slow start to win 2-6 6-4 6-2 and reach the fourth round of a Masters 1000 event for the fifth time in his last six attempts.
He now takes on defending champion Alexander Zverev in the next round. Zverev easily defeated Vilius Gaubas 6-4 6-0 in just 88 minutes. The German has given up just seven service games in his first two encounters and is now on an eight-match unbeaten run at the event.
Zverev leads the head-to-head 3-2 but it’s 1-1 on clay. The German defeated the youngster in the semi-finals of Hamburg two years ago with Fils then defeating Zverev in the final of the same event a year later.
