There is perhaps a lot more intrigue in this one than was to be expected a couple of weeks ago, with Ange Postecoglou now in charge of his first Nottingham Forest match.

Arsenal preview: Gunning for more

Arsenal had started their campaign very well with a 1-0 defeat of Manchester United before a 5-0 hammering of newly-promoted Leeds United, but there will be concerns about their mentality and their performance level after a loss to Liverpool.

In their final game before the September international break, Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool due to a late free-kick scored by Dominik Szoboszlai in a game in which many critics would suggest the Gunners could have pushed on a bit more.

Nottingham Forest preview: ‘Angeball’ at Forest

Over the international break, Nottingham Forest have decided to part company with Nuno Espirito Santo due to off-field issues after a magnificent season last year, and he has been replaced by former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou is known for being a tactical ideologue, playing a front foot and attacking style of football regardless of the match situation. Forest have appointed the Australian after having arch-pragmatist Nuno at the helm, and so that will be intriguing.

Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest prediction

Arsenal have been guilty of a lack of fluency for a while, with the Gunners spending big on attackers such as Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres to provide a point of difference in the final third this time around. Nottingham Forest are unlikely to have their solid defensive shape entirely undone within a few days of Postecoglou arriving, and the visitors had already become quite entertaining so that shouldn’t change either, with Arsenal still firm favourites at the Emirates Stadium.
