THE TEAM NEWS

HULL FC

Head Coach: Lee Radford

Squad: Bowden, Buchanan, Connor, Fash, Green, Griffin, Hadley, Houghton, Kelly, Manu, Matongo, Minichiello, Naulago, Paea, Shaul, Sneyd, Taylor, Washbrook, Westerman

Unavailable: Matty Dawson-Jones, Andre Savelio, Jordan Lane, Carlos Tuimavave, Gareth Ellis, Jack Logan, Bureta Faraimo

  • Hull FC produced a great display as their weakened side were victorious over Warrington at the Halliwell Jones Stadium last week and they will now look to back that up against Huddersfield.

  • Hull lost Danny Houghton, Sika Manu and Bureta Faraimo in their Captain's Run last week but will hope to have the former two back after they were named in the 19-man squad although they must still prove their fitness.

  • Josh Bowden makes a welcome return after missing the last year with an ACL injury whilst Kieran Buchanan is added to the 19 after receiving a late call-up last week in place of Faraimo with Jordan Thompson missing out.

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

Head Coach: Simon Woolford

Squad: Clough, English, Gaskell, Hewitt, Lawrence, Leeming, Matagi, McGillvary, McIntosh, Mellor, Murphy, O’Brien, Russell, I. Senior, L. Senior, Ta’ai, Turner, Ja. Wardle, Jo. Wardle

Unavailable: Leroy Cudjoe, Adam Walne, Akuila Uate, Matt Frawley, Oliver Roberts, Sebastine Ikahihifo

  • Huddersfield snapped their three-match losing streak in all competitions as the Giants held on to beat Hull KR for an important win to open up some daylight between themselves and the three teams below them.

  • The Giants were only able to name an 18-man squad last week and will be relieved to have avoided any further injuries with the same players named again this week with Alex Mellor returning to give them a full 19.

  • Matt Frawley remains on the sidelines so Oliver Russell is expected to continue in the halves alongside Lee Gaskell whilst Dale Ferguson has gone to Featherstone on loan as he bids for some regular game time after overcoming an injury.

THE PREDICTION

Hull FC gave their top 5 hopes a huge shot in the arm as they beat second-placed Warrington despite having to field a makeshift side. They head to Anfield with six wins from their last eight matches in all competitions and despite Huddersfield's solid win over Hull KR, FC can win again. They are starting to edge towards their first-choice 17 and following that impressive win last week, they should have too much for the Giants.
