Elise Mertens vs Barbora Krejcikova prediction

Barbora Krejcikova was pushed to the wire before ending her winless run against Anna Lena Friedsam.

The German qualifier hit back after a chastening opening set but eventually fell to the Czech by a 6-0 5-7 7-6 scoreline. 

Krejcikova will now meet fourth seed Elise Mertens for a second time after the Belgian claimed a 5-7 6-1 7-5 win at the United Cup in their maiden encounter back in January. 

Mertens is back inside the top 20 after some solid tournament runs over the past few months but you can expect Barbora to relish this encounter and there’s a likelihood of another three-setter and plenty of games ahead.
