Valentin Royer vs Adam Walton prediction

Valentin Royer was unable to advance to the second-round of the US Open last time out, as he was beaten in five sets by Dalibor Svrcina in the first-round. The Frenchman did well to recover from two sets down and force a decider but could not complete the comeback. His previous ATP appearances had ended in straight sets defeats to Stefanos Tsitsipas in Cincinnati and Tommy Paul in Toronto, although he did beat Pablo Carreno Busta in Canada. Royer did win a Challenger title in Kingston last month. He performed strongly here last season, reaching his first tour-level final, losing to Alexander Bublik. 

Adam Walton has also been out since the US Open, where he lost to Yibing Wu in round one. The Australian had shown some encouraging form in the lead up to the final Grand Slam of the year, reaching the third-round in both Cincinnati and Winston-Salem.

Neither player is a clear favourite for this match. Royer enjoyed these conditions last year, but Walton can be a big threat if he extends the rallies to his advantage.
