South Africa vs Australia prediction
The fast-bowling stocks of South Africa are not in a good place ahead of this ODI series. Lungi Ngidi’s hamstring injury suffered whilst playing domestic cricket sees him join both Kagiso Rabada and Ottneil Baartman on the sidelines. This will put a lot of strain on the likes of Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee against what is on paper, a strong Australian batting line-up who are coming off the back of a sweep away to Zimbabwe.
That series in Zimbabwe was big for Australia, allowing their batters crucial time at the crease to find rhythm and the results should be seen not only in the first ODI between them and the Proteas but across the entire three-match slate. However, South Africa were also dominant with the bat earlier this month against Namibia and rather than backing a specific winner, the shrewd play in this one would be backing both teams to record sizeable run totals over the course of their respective innings.
