THE TEAM NEWS
MANLY-WARRINGAH SEA EAGLES
Head Coach: Des Hasler
Starting 13: T. Trbojevic, Taufua, Walker, Suli, Garrick, Cust, Cherry-Evans, Fonua-Blake, Fainu, Taupau, Thompson, Sironen, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Croker, Waddell, Boyle, Paseka – Reserves: Parker, Elliot
Unavailable: Albert Hopoate, Toafofoa Sipley, Apisai Koroisau, Jack Gosiewski
- Manly were just edged out in a thrilling contest against top 4 rivals South Sydney as their three-game winning streak was halted and now have a crucial home game against Parramatta.
- The Sea Eagles will have Tom Trbojevic back in their side after the fullback was rested last week following his Origin appearance with his inclusion in place of Brendan Elliot the only change to their side against the Rabbitohs.
- Manly head coach Des Hasler is content with his side at the minute but the 17 that take to the field will have to be on their guard with some injured players due to return over the coming weeks.
PARRAMATTA EELS
Head Coach: Brad Arthur
Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, Takairangi, Hoffman, Parry, D. Brown, Moses, Evans, Mahoney, Paulo, Lane, Ma’u, N. Brown – Interchanges: Salmon, Niukore, Gower, Moeroa – Reserves: Alvaro, Smith
Unavailable: Michael Jennings, Waqa Blake, Peni Terepo, George Jennings, Ray Stone, Blake Ferugson
- Parramatta opened up daylight between themselves and the teams outside of the top 8 as they beat Wests Tigers last week and will have their sights set on climbing up the ladder as they travel to Manly.
- The Eels have won three games in a row and were likely to go with the same 17 as last week but Blake Ferguson is a late withdrawal after undergoing minor knee surgery during the week with rookie winger Ethan Parry coming in to the side.
- Parramatta are still without a handful of players but none are expected back for at least another couple of weeks with the Eels hoping to be strengthened towards the business end of the season.
THE PREDICTION
Manly and Parramatta close out Round 18 with an intriguing contest. The two teams are locked together on 20 competition points with the winner able to look ahead of them on the ladder whilst the loser will be wary of the teams below. This should be a tense affair but both teams can throw the football about when they are in the mood and this could turn into a shootout. Parramatta have lacked consistency away from home and that should give Manly the advantage to edge this on home soil.
