Antonia Ruzic vs Paula Badosa prediction
Antonia Ruzic advanced in Beijing after a straight sets win over Elsa Jacquemot. The 22-year-old broke at the start of both sets to win 6-3 6-3 after an hour and 31 minutes. It was a controlled performance from Ruzic who benefitted from a poor serving display from her opponent, as Jacquemot committed 12 double faults in total.
Paula Badosa is her second-round opponent. The Spaniard makes her full return to the WTA Tour after some time away due to an ongoing back injury. Badosa did make a return at the Billie Jean King Cup and performed well, despite losing in three sets to Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals. This will be Badosa’s first WTA match since her Wimbledon first-round exit to Katie Boulter. She began the year strongly with a semi-final finish at the Australian Open and can be a threat to anyone when fit.
Despite her injury struggles, Badosa is a quality player and is the clear favourite to get through against Ruzic.
