The Hungarian came from behind to thwart the Russian’s bid to burst beyond the top 15 barrier on the WTA ladder with a 6-7 6-3 7-6 success.
The seventh seed will now take on Kaja Juvan for a spot in the final after the Slovenian defeated Leyre Romero Gormaz 6-4 6-7 6-4.
This will be their first ever encounter and both players have shown top form in Hamburg this week and are likely to leave it all on the court in attempt to earn a shot at the trophy.
Bondar is the one we like given the calibre of opponent she has beaten as well as her ability to deliver in the clutch moments, but don't rule out Juvan making a real fight of it.
