Anna Bondar booked her place in the second-round of the Madrid Open with a straight-forward win over Viktorija Golubic. She faces Elina Svitolina next. The Ukrainian continued her consistent form this season in Stuttgart, progressing to the semi-finals. However, she lost in the last four against Karolina Muchova despite taking the match into a deciding set. Nevertheless, it’s been a very strong year for Svitolina up to now, with a title in Auckland and a WTA 1000 final in Dubai.
