Anna Blinkova endured a nightmare start to the campaign as she lost her first five matches. A win would finally arrive in the first-round of Indian Wells against Dalma Galfi and she then took the first set against Amanda Anisimova in the next round, before going on to lose in three. She came from a set down to beat former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin in round one of the Miami Open.
However, she has a tough task in the next round as she faces world number nine Victoria Mboko. The youngster continued her impressive 2026 as she reached the quarter-finals of Indian Wells. Mboko produced a brilliant display to get past Anisimova in the round-of-16 and proved to be a tough opponent for Aryna Sabalenka, though still lost in straight sets. The 19-year-old has already reached two finals in Adelaide and Doha.
Mboko is adding greater consistency to her game, and this should be a comfortable match for her.
