Angers preview: Still in Ligue 1
Angers gained promotion back to the top-flight of French football in the 2023/24 campaign and, after a topsy turvy rollercoaster-like campaign, they managed to eventually steer themselves clear of the bottom three and the danger zone last year.
Alexandre Dujeux was the man in charge of Angers during their promotion-winning campaign, and he remains at the helm for this season. They have been quiet in the transfer window, with the arrivals of Herve Koffi and Louis Mouton.
Paris preview: Back in Ligue 1
Paris Saint-Germain are the dominant force of French football, and especially in the capital city, but we will have a Parisien derby next season as the also extraordinarily wealthy Paris FC have gained promotion to Ligue 1 for the 2025/26 campaign.
Owned by the Arnault family, with Red Bull also providing some expertise, Paris will be expecting to push into the middle-of-the-table, let alone comfortably avoid relegation. They have spent reasonably heavily, too, most notably on Porto defender, Otavio.
Angers team news: Fully fit on opening day
As they prepare to welcome Paris this weekend, Auxerre do have the blessing of having a fully fit and available squad for the clash so they can name their strongest eleven.

Angers vs Paris prediction
Angers will look to be as solid as they were last season, with hopefully a bit more sting in the tail in the final third to ensure they aren’t fighting against the drop throughout the campaign once again. Paris, though, will be coming up with a lot of enthusiasm and expectation, as well as their financial backing, and them to ride the wave with a victory, or at least a point, seems a good bet for this one.
