Andrey Rublev vs Valentin Royer prediction
Andrey Rublev battled his way through to the round-of-16 at the US Open. However, he was unable to reach another quarter-final in New York as a poor display saw him beaten by Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. Nevertheless, it has been a largely productive spell for Rublev, who also got through to the quarter-finals of both Toronto and Cincinnati in August. A strong next six weeks could see him qualify for the World Tour Finals in November.
Valentin Royer will be his opponent in Hangzhou. The Frenchman picked up a fine win in the last round as he defeated Aleksandar Kovacevic. He came from a set down, squeezing past the American in a tight second set tiebreak before breaking right at the start of the third to win 4-6 7-6 6-3.
Rublev will be searching for a statement win as he starts his campaign, and his powerful all-court game should overwhelm Royer at times and see him make the quarter-finals.
